A system-on-chip (SoC) serves as the central processing unit of a device, and Axis Communications primarily relies on its internally developed ARTPEC SoC for the majority of its products. To address lower price points, the company also incorporates some external SoCs. The innovation behind ARTPEC has allowed Axis to roll out advanced technologies, including Axis Forensic Wide Dynamic Range (WDR), Axis Zipstream data compression, and sophisticated analytics based on deep learning, all of which operate at the edge. Each ARTPEC generation has notably boosted pixel throughput while enhancing essential features, achieving this with minimal changes to size, power consumption, and cost.
