Network Recommendations
To ensure that the YourSixOS Solution delivers the best user experience, it’s essential to have a well-configured network that offers a secure and fast foundation without disrupting other devices on the network. Below are some networking recommendations for configuring a network for Physical Security Solutions:
IP Address
-
- Employ DHCP for assigning IP addresses to cameras
- Users needing devices with specific IP addresses should utilize MAC address binding
VLAN
-
- Establish a distinct VLAN for the video/security system, keeping it separate from the customer data network
- In order to support local users utilizing direct streaming, inter-VLAN routing must be supported
Subnet
-
- Implement a /24 subnet to limit the number of devices on the subnet to approximately 250
Network Switch
-
-
- Tailor switch PoE requirements based on camera requirements
- Ensure that PoE is activated on all utilized ports
- If unused ports need to be disabled for a client, selectively enable ports according to their configuration or as cameras are added
